Museum of Natural History

If you follow Sukhbaatar Street further north, you will come to the Museum of Natural History at the next major intersection – a must for every visitor to Mongolia, because it shows discoveries that are of enormous importance to scientists worldwide. In addition to rare dinosaur exhibits and dinosaur eggs, various plant and wild animal species can be seen here. The highlight of the museum are two fighting dinosaurs. A huge skeleton of a duckbill dinosaur from the Gobi desert rounds off the exhibition. There is a section on the Bactrian Camel on the second floor that specializes in desert life. The other areas of the museum deal with geology, geography, flora and fauna as well as paleontology and provide information with their stuffed animals, including an ornithological collection comprising more than 200 birds, and minerals about the national and natural history of Mongolia .
