Khoridol Saridag SPA, Khovsgol
The Khoridol Saridag mountain range is located in the Renchilhumbe soum of the Khovsgol province in Mongolia and is a true natural wonder that enthralls visitors with its breathtaking scenery and an abundance of natural resources. The range’s highest peak, Delgerkhaan Mountain, rises to an impressive 3130 meters above sea level, making it a favorite among mountain climbers and trekkers. The other peaks in the range, including Bituu, Nart, and Khanjid, are equally awe-inspiring, rising above 2200 meters.
The Khoridol Saridag mountains are the source of numerous rivers and springs that flow through the region, providing an endless supply of fresh water. The region is home to an array of flora and fauna, including rare and endangered species such as the snow leopard, argali sheep, and Siberian ibex. The area is also rich in mineral resources such as gold, copper, and lead.
One of the most stunning features of the Khoridol Saridag range is the Arsai River, which originates in the mountains and features the highest waterfall in Mongolia, cascading from a height of 70 meters. The waterfall is nestled in a lush larch tree forest, providing a serene and picturesque backdrop to the already stunning natural scenery.
In 1997, the government designated the Khoridol Saridag mountain range as a strictly protected area, covering an extensive land area of 188634 square kilometers. Due to the rugged terrain, roads around the mountain are extremely challenging to navigate, with mud, large boulders, and steep slopes posing significant challenges. As a result, horseback riding has become the preferred mode of transportation for both locals and tourists. Horse trekking around Khoridol Saridag SPA is the most recommended and well-developed activity, with experienced horse guides available in Khatgal and Renchinlhumbe soum, offering a chance to explore the majestic mountain range uniquely and unforgettably.
