Mongolia Horse Trekking -13-day Tour in Altai Tavan Bogd National Park is an adventure-packed and exhilarating trip that takes you through one of the largest and unspoiled remote destinations of Mongolia. The national park is famous for its snow-capped high mountains, glaciers, wildlife, fauna, white river, and prehistoric sites. The highest peak of Mongolia, the Khuiten (4374 meters) of Tavan Bogd mountain, is located within the park. Day 1. Arrival day.

The Mongolia Horse Trekking tour itinerary is designed to provide a comprehensive experience of this beautiful national park. On arrival day, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you will rest and then embark on a city tour in the afternoon. The tour will take you to Sukhbaatar Square, the National Historical Museum, Gandan Monastery, Zaisan Hill, and the Traditional Cultural Show. You will then have dinner at a local restaurant and spend the night in the hotel.

Day 2. Fly to Khovd City – Tsambagarav Mountain.

You will have an early breakfast and take a flight to Khovd city. Upon arrival, your drivers will be waiting for you at the airport, and you will proceed to your campsite near Tsambagarav Mountain. During dinner, you will be entertained by a local musical team with their little folk concert, including humid/overtone singing or throat singing. We will spend the night in the tent.

Day 3. Ulgii City – Ulaan Khus Soum.

We will travel to Ulaankhus soum of Bayan-Ulgii province, passing through Ulgiy city, which is famous for its eagle hunters. The landscape is mountainous, and we will spend the night in a tent.

Day 4. Oigor the gate for Altai Tavan Bogd National Park via Khar Yamaat

We will travel to the next campsite near the Gate to Altay Tavan Bogd National Park. Along the way, you will see some historical sites like inscription rocks and men-stones, which belong to the 4-6th century, and enjoy its wildlife. We will spend the night in the tent.

Day 5-10. Horse Trekking in the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, Mongolia.

Days five to ten will be devoted to horse trekking in the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. We will climb one of the peaks named Malchin Peak and be able to see endangered wild fauna such as argali sheep, ibex, snow leopards, elk, moose, and brown bears. You will also see some rare and medicinal plants and flowers like vansemberuu and juniper. With a Mongolian horse that is small but tough and strong, you will overcome any obstacles you face. The natural scenes of the National Parks are so marvelous and untouched that you will enjoy the view of the peaks of the National Park and the holly Shiveet Khairkhan mountain and such a magical white river. In Khar Salaa, you can find many inscription rocks. The last day of horse trekking would end in Khoton Lake.

Day 11. Khurgan Lake via Khoton lake and Sagsai.

Today we will finish your horse trekking bid farewell to your horse guides and meet your cars and drivers in Khurgan Lake. After lunch on a picnic, you will proceed to another village named Sagsai, which has the most eagle hunters in Bayan-Ulgii province and celebrates its Eagle Festival annually. Here you’ll visit one of the eagle hunters’ families and meet their nomadic life. You will spend the night in a tent.

Day 12. Fly to Ulaanbaatar.

Drive to the airport in Ulgii and also have to leave your drivers here. The flight to Ulaanbaatar will be in the afternoon. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the evening and have dinner at a restaurant. You will spend the night in the hotel.

Day 13. Departure.
