The Darkhad Valley in Khovsgol Province is home to the largest number of shamans in Mongolia, with three soums – Bayanzurkh, Renchinlhumbe, and Ulaan-Uul. On this Shaman Tour, you’ll visit Bayanzurkh, where you’ll have the opportunity to not only learn about shamanism but also experience the beauty of Khoridol Saridag SPA and Darkhad Valley.
Day 1. Arrival day.
The itinerary for this tour is action-packed and unforgettable. On arrival day, you’ll transfer to your hotel and enjoy a city tour in the afternoon, preparing for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2. UB-Moron/flight/- Bayanzurkh.
Fly to Moron and take a drive to Bayanzurkh soum to visit the family of a Darkhad Shaman. You’ll have the chance to meet and communicate with a real Darkhad shaman and spend the night in a tent.
Day 3-7. Visiting Shaman in Taiga /via Ulaan-Uul, Tsagaan Nuur/
From day three to seven, we’ll visit the Tsaatan tribes who herd reindeer – one of the few places where shaman heritage is still alive and well. We’ll ride horseback and camp in the Taiga region of Renchinlhumbe soum, with all your luggage carried by horses. Coming down from the mountain on day seven, spend the night in a tent.
Day 8. Khoridol Saridag Mountain Range.
We’ll move from Taiga to Khoridol Saridag Mountain to explore the most beautiful wildlife in these parts. Overnight in a tent.
Day 9. Khoridol Saridag Mountain Range.
Travel through the Khoridol Saridag Strictly Protected Area and reach Khovsgol Lakeshore, where we’ll stay at a camp.
Day 10. Khovsgol lake/rest day/.
Today is a rest day, where you can manage your day as you wish, with activities such as horse riding, jet boat rides, hiking, visiting nomads’ families, swimming, and tasting traditional foods available.
Day 11. Moron-Ulaanbaatar/flight/.
Drive to Moron in the morning and fly back to Ulaanbaatar. We’ll have lunch when we arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon and go shopping for cashmere and souvenirs. Overnight in hotel.
Day 12. Gorkhi Terelj National Park.
Travel to Gorkhi Terelj National Park and visit the Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex in the afternoon, before returning to the hotel and enjoying a Traditional Cultural Show and dinner at the restaurant.
Day 13. Departure day.
Finally, you’ll be transferred to the airport for departure.
