About 40 kilometers north of Khermen Tsav and west of the Nemegt Formation, where the desert becomes even more inhospitable and rough, you suddenly come across the river of Zulganai Oasis. It is fed by the water from the mountains of the Gobi Altai Mountains. It meanders about 20 kilometers through the desert before seeping into the sand. Usually, the water level is only sufficient to wet the heated face and arms.
Nevertheless, the phenomenal thing is that along the sometimes really narrow rivulet in front of the golden sand dunes, small lakes are formed, meadows full of flowers can be found, reed forests three meters high, pastures, and many birds. If a camel got lost here, you would not be able to see it in the thicket, it is so impenetrable in some places. In the middle of the desert, there is an oasis like in a picture book, which is worth discovering if you have the time and courage to penetrate this extreme of nature.
