Day 1. Arrival Day
The tour starts with your arrival in Ulaanbaatar and transfers to the hotel. In the afternoon, we will start on a city tour that includes some of the most iconic landmarks of the city, such as Chinggis Square, National Historical Museum, Gandan Monastery, Zaisan Hill, and the Traditional Cultural Show. You will also enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant before retiring to your hotel.
Day 2. Khokh Lake ( or Khar Zurkhnii Khokh Lake) via Genghis Khan Statue Complex
We will travel to eastern Mongolia, the birthplace of Genghis Khan in Khentii province. We will start the trip from Khokh Lake, also known as the Blue Lake of Black Heart, and see the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue on the way. According to the historical source “Secret History of the Mongols,” Temujin/Genghis Khan/ spent his childhood near this lake with his mother and brothers. Here, at the age of 27, Temujin has gained the title of “Genghis Khan” and invested as “The Great Khan of all Mongolia.” Spend the night in a ger camp.
Day 3. Baldan Bereevin Monastery
Travel to Baldan Bereevin Monastery, which was established in 1777 on the hill of the Monkh-Olziyt mountain. It was the biggest religious center of the Mongolian east region, famous as “Ar Khalkhiyn Tsagaan Utai Gumben,” with 8000 lamas and their 4 provinces and numerous temples. The communists destroyed the monastery complex in n the 1930s and reconstructed it in the 1990s. Spend the night in a tent.
Day 4. Binder soum
Drive to the beautiful Binder soum of Khentii province, which is well-known for its fascinating natural scenes and historical sites. The landscape is mostly covered with giant pine and larch trees, and the beautiful Onon River runs across. Spend the night in a tent.
Day 5. Dadal soum / The Birthplace of Chinggis Khaan /
We will travel to the Dadal Soum area to see the real birthplace of Genghis Khan, the place named Deluun Boldog. It is said in the “Secret History of the Mongols” that Genghis Khan was born in a place called Deluun Boldog located in Dadal Soum. The historic site studied by Mongolian historians, such as O. Jamyan, Kh. Perlee, and Ts. Dorjsuren, confirms the Genghis Khan’s birthplace as Deluun Boldog, the junction of Onon and Balj rivers. There are many historic sites related to Genghis Khan’s life. Spend the night in a tent.
Day 6. Dadal Soum
We will stay in Dadal and visit more historic sites to study about Genghis Khan. Spend the night in a tent.
Day 7. Chinggis City
Travel to Chinggis City, previously known as UndurKhaan/Supreme Khaan/ before being renamed Chinggis in 2013. Here, you can learn about the Khentii province and its history in the Museum of Khentii Province. Spend the night in a hotel.
Day 8. Khuduu aral
We will travel to another very important historical site called Khuduu Aral, located 35 km southwest of the Tsenkheriyn Gol River. Mongolian Great Khans such as Genghis, Ogodei, Monkh, and Esuntomor reigned as Khan in this land. The great historical story “Secret History of the Mongols” was also written here. Spend the night in a ger camp.
Day 9. 13th century Complex – Gorkhi Terelj National Park
Travel to the 13th Century Complex and Terelj National Park. The 13th Century Complex presents the historical condition of the 13th Century’s nomadic life. The complex consisted of 6 camps King Palace, Watch Guardian camp, Horse relay station, artistic camp, education camp, and shamans camp. Tourists can pray for white and black spirits of the Mongol Empire and introduce Mongolian fine arts, nomadic customs, and shamanic rituals of 13th-century livelihood. This is one of the protected landscapes of Khan Khentii Mountain, preserved in 1994 by the state. In the afternoon, you will drive to Gorkhi Terelj National Park, one of the tourist and nearest destinations from Ulaanbaatar. Here, you will see some incredible natural creations like the giant Turtle Rock and the wonderful Ariyabal monastery. The National Park has a surrounding with beautiful mountains with gigantic rocks and trees. We will spend the night in a ger camp.
Day 10. Ulaanbaatar
We will have a short drive back to Ulaanbaatar from Terelj National Park. Upon arrival, you will have some time to shop for cashmere and souvenirs, as Mongolian cashmere products are getting very famous in the world market with their best quality and price. You will also enjoy a Traditional Cultural Show before dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
Day 11. Departure
We will transfer you to the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Eastern Mongolia Tour.
