Are you an avid fisherman looking for the ultimate fishing experience? If so, then a trip to Mongolia for Taimen fishing with rafting is exactly what you need. Taimen, the biggest salmonid species, is found in only a few countries like Japan, Russia/Siberia, China, and Mongolia. Unfortunately, Taimen has almost disappeared in these countries, but some populations still survive in a few river basins in Russia and Mongolia. Therefore, Taimen fishing has become a dream for many fishermen all over the world.

The Taimen fishing trip will take you to the Khovsgol and Bulgan Provinces in Northern Mongolia. You will drift down the Eg River, the freshest water in Mongolia, and fish for grayling, lenok, pike, and Taimen/hucho/. The trip is a very special and unique kind of fishing, as Taimen can reach up to 6 ft long.

Day 1. Arrival Day.

Arrive at the Chinggis Khaan Airport in Ulaanbaatar, where our guide and driver will pick you up and take you to the hotel to rest until noon. In the afternoon, we will take you on a city tour, including Sukhbaatar Square, Zaisan Hill, Gandan Monastery, and the National Historical Museum. You will also enjoy a cultural show in the evening, followed by dinner at a restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2. Selenge River in Khutag-Undur soum

After breakfast at the hotel, we will get on the way to the Eg River early in the morning. It is about 700 kilometers and takes around 10 hours to reach the start point. Therefore, we will sleep one night in a tourist/ger/camp near the Selenge, the biggest river in Mongolia, and enjoy the beauty of this valley. The camp restaurant will provide dinner and hot showers.

Day 3. Eg-Uur River the Start Point

Breakfast will be served at the camp restaurant. We will start moving to the river as early as possible and reach the start point in the afternoon. After a short break, we will prepare all the fishing gear and rafts to get ready for the trip. Before fishing, our guide will give you tips about Taimen fishing in Mongolia, its technique, and safety instructions. He will also answer your questions before we start rafting and fishing. After a short fishing session, we will find the best place to camp by the river shore, and our professional cook will start preparing dinner. Overnight stay in a tent.

Day 4 -12. Fishing for Taimen with the raft

Days 4 to 12 will be dedicated to Taimen fishing with the raft. During these days, we will drift down the river every day and fish for Taimen and other species. We will appreciate every fish and release them with minimum handling. The Eg River is one of the biggest rivers in Mongolia, and many flows to it, so it has a powerful current and water supply. When you follow the valley of this river, you can see how beautiful its natural creations and wildlife are. You will enjoy the most unspoiled spots.

Day 13. The last day for Taimen fishing

After 8 days of fishing, we will meet our vehicles and hit the road to Ulaanbaatar. We will sleep on the way to a tourist camp and celebrate the end of the trip. Dinner will be served at the camp restaurant, and overnight stay at the camp.
